Feeding Programme

A hot meal, every school day.

A hungry child cannot learn. Our feeding programme delivers one nutritious meal per school day to 38,000 children across 14 African countries — cooked by community kitchens, sourced from smallholder farms within a 40-kilometre radius.

How the programme works on the ground.

01

Locally sourced

Every ingredient is bought from a farmer within 40km of the kitchen. We pay above market rate on a 90-day standing order.

02

Community-cooked

Each kitchen is staffed and managed by parents from the school, paid at a living wage. We provide the equipment, training and food-safety oversight.

03

Nutritionally calibrated

Menus are designed with district nutritionists to hit 100% of recommended daily calories and 80% of micronutrient needs for primary-age children.

Field story

"Before the kitchen, my children went home at lunch and many didn't come back. Now they stay all day — and my husband and I sell our maize to the school. It's the first steady income we've ever had."
